KA Rees #26 - Chair for a king
Chair for a king
Under a broad limb fig, against a sliding table
in shade, this chair is made for a fleshy king.
Summer fruits surround its empty frame held in deep
wooden buckets, barrels cut in half and forged with iron. White
and pink peaches, pale green pears; ripe flesh. Fists
grab, fingers drip juice, straw light filters through
the flecked canopy of leaves. Beneath
our feet, foundation stones, angels and demons, humans
hold fast to the seven and the ease in which it ignites.
