QUINCE
Your eyes are quinces the tear of them
yellow stripped close to white
your blue folds your blood cloak the brush
you hold between finger and thumb
your sky lowers whispers draws us in
I hone my knife as you hone yours
this is wonderful; yes, the quince eyes!
ReplyDeleteLovely. Love the inages.
ReplyDeleteOh, this really speaks to me. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes, beautiful, and full of wonderful tension.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. In one of Medbh McGuckian's collections she has wonderful similes and metaphors for eyes all through the book. From time to time I think about how I might describe eyes - thanks to Red Cone and Efi for the inspiration.
