and so often thwarted by cloud

there’s harvest moon

that I’ve now forgotten

and only remember the video

of Neil Young dancing

in a type of dance

found in small towns and villages

in rural America

and nostalgia comes flooding back

for an experience I’ve never had

the idea of dances

where young people meet

in light filled rooms

maybe get to hold hands

when my adolescent dancing

consisted of stomping in dark rooms

to very loud music

and being rushed away

for some secret exchange

rolling in the grass

in your best dress

under the stars
