Rob Harle #15 Duelling Conductors
Arvo Pärt seduces me
Tabula Rasa divine,
the in-car sound superb.
She floats across the crossing,
crossing herself
conducting an invisible orchestra
heard only through shiny silver headphones,
arms waving, Allegretto,
smiling mischievously.
I ponder is she listening to Arvo?
her grin contagious,
other pedestrians bemused
pass by,
eyes fixed on the horizon.
I start conducting Arvo,
she notices and smiles
increases tempo to Allegro
then disappears into the laneway.
Oh I enjoyed this, the joy of living, connecting with a stranger, the fleeting recognition, so precious in this life.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, it was one of those strange "palpable", precious moments :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, fantastic, Rob! I love how you've spatialised this encounter in music, using images of space that move from inside to outside, horizon to laneway. (I love Arvo Part, too, and I have to move around physically when I listen to his stuff because I feel spatialised... )
ReplyDeleteThanks Efi :-)
