Rob Schackne () Tethered

Tethered

                     for Jack Gilbert

Nothing be nothing or strong
the humming started yesterday
the plastic bag fell in the street
see nothing be nothing be long
the wind blows the same black bag
every single day stays the same
tethered in an alley blind of sight
drawn by a light if you noticed it.

  1. I like this a lot - speaks to me even though I don't know enough about Jack Gilbert or his work to get all the references at this point.

    1. Cheers, Lizz, I'm glad you found an entry point. JG is a favourite poet of mine. He passed not so long ago. I wrote the poem in his memory. Except for maybe the tone, there are no overt references to his work in it.
