Robert Verdon, #208, The Death Question

problem of death
clot on the social brain
yearning to be
dissolved

faith in gods failed
(as we imagine)
howling in deserts
for blood-and-boned millennia

perishing like locusts
fledglings in chimneys
whales on a beach
children in agony

avenge these deaths
save us from time
make death’s abolition
more than mere hubris,

save us! we pray,
in our enlightenment:
for soon we will have
and soon we will master
the technology

  1. Yes, yes, Just heard Townes sing, "Hoping the stars know when it's time to shine". Great poem/meditation, Robbie. Thank you.
