                  For a year now
                  I watch the same tree
                  its strength astounding

                  but no more luxury
                  of seasons I have
                  the sun and winter

                  and strange rain
                  that merely wets
                  an appetite for more

                  and I watch it fall
                  stand in it for a minute
                  nothing is eased

                  and I admire
                  my new wristwatch
                  it cost me so little                

                  the furnace still blows
                  the cool change is
                  expected soon

                  hellish hot
                  this Australia
                  all we've earned
