Kerri Shying R # 393 - Kang Quilt One


Kang Quilt One

All the stitching gathers    first
along the mattress needle    
shark fins by the quay
near the Opera House
when I was just a kid
all the same
but not     dropped
bunched   pulled flat

drawing with a steel finger
one tale   all the years to make
   tuck in around me
   and I’ll tell

    I remember the bottle-top green of the bay
    and the ferry whiff
    bounce of the wharf
