Three parrots in the pear tree
watch us strip the apricot tree
Their beaks curl in disgust
at our marauding ways
We are the thugs in their orchard
taking everything
They mutter in parrot squeaks
among themselves
Today the parrot world is cursed
and we can only shrug and agree
For tonight us thieving criminals
will be having jam with tea
And they, having starved, may be ex-parrots!
