like a small iceberg
lit from inside

this ‘thing’
took over my painting
when it was supposed
to sit quietly
in the background

I thought it would
melt in
but instead it hovers
on the surface
erasing all my
careful layers

then after Photoshopping
is even more luminous
and now I see it
as a head
