to return all right
it's coolly green
the marri leaves are drifting
in a tickertape display
to remind you of snow
forming a carpet
to cushion your booted feet
some welcome parade
we are rolling out
it's raining even
confetti soft
not like that pelting storm fall
we had last week
which was unusual enough
get on that plane
curl your long legs up
in their dark jeans
drape your jumper
casually across your shoulders
put away in a pocket
that hand made hat
which was so warm
and looked so fetching
against the white
you can come home now
from your Swiss Christmas
with a day or so of grace
before it is 39° again
on Friday
