Kit Kelen #1021 - pump

1021
pump

practical simile for the home maker

like a house heart
and under
our store of storm
our everywhere-well

how anciently the roof gave here
tank is hands-cupped concrete
and other lands don’t know

here sky’s collected
here now spent
washed in it
hands, hair, ears behind

our baptism
comes round a corner
gravity defied
that’s pipe, it might be snake-bite

tank is like coin in the bank

holds thing like nothing
like air
and just as moist at times
like in the system kicks in
you’ll hear the start

then pump is our teller
tickles round

rain like an arrow
mostly mild
a message goes unread
come green
and up

pump circulates
some stuff
it’s chuckle
for its own joke
behind the wall

taps!
the source is where we say
and where we will it’s run away

and did I mention pipe?
how hum
and all these several stops

voice of the pump
isn’t a rodent run in the wall
scratch of the unknown roof bird

tanker is a last resort
foul town expensive stuff
my reader mainly drinks

roof is all collecting
hears everything the sun says too

the city will never know
magic of how our water’s here
how a sky’s run through us
end to end
we’re made of mist

tree is dripping over
cloud is almost passed

it’s thunder in the hollow we hold
night, day

frog wants in
but lid is on

web tries out the rain

one thing is another
we’re always led to believe

like is
like I say

that’s where the source is
