it is all crisis and chaos
taking power into your own hands
by any means necessary

these kinds of things
never end well

I have walked the path of the righteous
seen the tyranny of evil men
watched hate destroy my brothers
and my sisters
and the generations that followed them
caught up in the cycle of poverty and handouts
alcoholism and abuse
marginalised by a system
designed to sway in the favour
of the privileged few

they say -
a white man's riot
is the black man's uprising
and like the sun
we will rise again and again

and we will sing,
we will sing our songs of freedom
like Marley - it is all we'll ever have
and we will
'emancipate ourselves from mental slavery'
like Garvey we will no longer be
'the slave of the other man'

we will sing our songs of freedom
there is no peace until freedom sings
