Red Cone-Day 18-Not a cloud

not a cloud
a clear blue sky
in the morning light
graded from dirty flake white
raw umber cerulean blue
tonal shift to cobalt blue
up high
stillness
the birds are happy
they gather at the water bowl
pecking order ensured
from large to small
galahs magpies
coloured parrots
willy wag tails
tiny blue tits
so tiny
I could if I wanted to
close my hand over them
if I could catch one
which I don't
I prefer to watch

today we might drive to an
exhibition opening
him and him and me

the ultra light flies above us
the lawnmower in the sky
cutting the air
destroying the solitude
the puppy chews his bone
the garden looks happy
the trees content
as am I
