Susan Hawthorne #17 acrobatic comma

when a comma goes for a walk
and bumps into a full stop
the sentence changes direction

this comma has aerial aspirations
has met with another aerial comma
and together they have taken to the air

whenever anyone looks as if to speak
these aerialists appear and hang about

in pairs until the conversation is done

this comma is tired of the high life
abandons her aerial aspirations
falls exhausted beneath the full stop

the single aerial comma goes it alone
swings through the air with abandon
nestles in the armpit of a question mark
