all day there are
things
ideas
something
just half-appearing
but gone too quickly
to take notes
with all the rush
like a sea creature
just starting to surface
it’s as if the surface is
bulging
about to be rent
so something can appear
and then it doesn’t
like a porpoise
turning and diving again
I stare intently at
the local wildlife
for ideas
but they remain literal
like the cormorant
drying its wings
at the water’s edge

This is a fascinating poem, beautifully topped off by the illustration.
