Floraphagy
what happens if you
don’t eat I can tell you
first your stomach
grows less shrinks
from
a bubble
to a dish of honey walnut
all words now
just the colours
not the tastes interior
small noises feel quite pleasant oh
at some time the sense of being thoughtless
descends a
vague tap on the small door
of the brain by a frantic mouse
says
you want to eat the
door
stays locked I
have to lumber up
using energy I don’t have
thinking with my drained brain
standing in the kitchen
knowing I have to eat
to tick that box
outside I look at pots of Cosmos flowers
waving in the fierce winds
set there to remind me
nothing grows
in thin air everything has roots
in soil the
small hairs feasting on the tasties
borne in water held in crumbs
I seize the roll
I’m eating now
I’m off
think of Buddha with the one grain of rice and the single sesamum
