School Counselor’s First on the Left

Like Anthony in that old Twilight Zone

episode who the whole town fears

and who if he doesn’t like you

or what you do or think or say

will just look at you and blink you

into the cornfield or turn you into

a Jack-in-the-box. No one dare upset

Anthony, don’t scold or punish him

just go along with whatever

he wants, whatever keeps him happy,

don’t think unhappy thoughts because

he can read your mind and he won’t

like it if you don’t like what he likes.

Whatever it is he did, just keep smiling

and nodding and saying ‘that’s a good thing

you did Anthony, that’s a real good thing’
