American Sweethearts
Jack and his three sweethearts have lived together eight years
Not a long time, yet compared to many soon-withered loves
A lifetime
They are called Lita, Tracey, and Mei Fang
(Mei Fang has an eastern-style figure and face)
He also calls them sweetheart, baby, darling, little siren….
He and his sweethearts chat, watch TV, share one bed
They’re all good women, never talkative; they drink wine, never vinegar
And will never spread their rose-red apricots across the wall, fall in love with other men
He loves them dearly, regards them as family
Buys them new clothes, gives them presents
Dresses them and combs their hair, though they’ll never be old or senile
Jack was married twice before, both times terrible
Now, he thinks only of life with his sweethearts
He has divorced himself from his kind, woman and man
Sometimes, marketing firms stuff advertisements
For new models of inflatable dolls into his mailbox
He thinks of them as trash and throws them away
