Kerri Shying R # 561 - at Welsummer
at Welsummer
I slept late today due to some
pesky asthma in the wee smalls
that needed ventolin
that caused me to shake and shudder
but it is Sunday
and September
and the painters found and kept
the small amulet in the rafters,
why do we think the image of a skull
protects us
see I am fine see the rain washed the mirrors
this house is full of perfume hands ache
from working cupboards are full there are clouds
against the grey white
against the blue this season's
first finch passes
that flight
the way it goes from push to pull
ceases in mid air breast stroking the sky
those thunderheads let them come

ReplyDeleteThe small
skull
amulet
recently found in rafter
was no more, no less than
protection against itself
fear, fear not – all begone
was waiting for daylight
bone tired of momento mori
now to be with you
and dance
another round
of joy
