1362
poem at the end
of the day
cadence
practice
after one thing and
another
(neither the be-all nor
end-)
having had the run
around
through thick thin
can of worms
taken stock
putting all that behind
us
green fields projected
(hay having been made)
come up smiling roses
having come to the
bridge and crossed
(much water under)
and looking up
just when the cows come
home
after all is said and
done
saved by the bell
ridden off into
the sunset clause
in the final analysis
down to the wire
done and dusted in fact
in the fine print
(devil in the detail
there)
having drawn a line
under
by a nose of course
(miss would have been
as good as a mile)
let us not say at long
last or told you
but under wraps
in the gloaming yet
(powers of darkness
approaching)
reaped what
shut up shop
come home to roost
in the bag nonetheless
we swallow a bitter
pill
best taken lying down
