Allison Morris #16 'Bedtime'

Some nice damp woods
might lift the spirit,
a perfect cloud might
cause the heart to soar.
Daffodils, and other perennials,
have certainly done us
no harm
but nothing soothes a poet's weary heart
like the sight of their clean white pillow
bathed in yellow lamp-light;
a gentle siren
ready to pull a tired mind under
the waves.
