Jeffree Skewes #111 Nigel builds songs

Of steel
we dig and toil
generations degraded
country left giant holes
appearing now in skies
glaciers and too many minds

for oil
we guzzle trillions
to move around unfurling
physics counting ways
to go from here to there
exhausting cloud movements

water we diverted
so work be had at mill
thinking art just a skill
dominion on city shelves
not everyone
drinks from the same cup

gas drilled
honeycombed underground
never quite knew
how many forests
farms fraked
news gradually leaked

we herded nourishment
cleared fenced slaughtered
rights bound them with ours
destiny and karma
brothers and sisters
who's superior

recycled air
pumped through pipes
corridors airplanes houses
under sand because we could
live and play anywhere
believe it trickled down

after-dark it didn't stop
currents signals spread
we imagine communication
transmitted by tubes
into schools homes our lives
24 seven-screen time

distracted chasing
bills the next thrill
running burning
dreaming up holidays
the ways to get off
makes it real

overbreed overfeed
under-happy discontent
better to speak up and out
free these chains so reigned
by leaders, minions
who stopped sharing

truth with us
