Kit Kelen #1346 - a birthday poem for Kerri

1346
a birthday poem for Kerri Shying

consider the ancestors
they won’t think of us

they’re not here
nor do I think that they would wish

they never think of us
but must have once imagined

how one thing might lead to another
once must have been the baby left held

fend for a self till end of days
imagine they imagine us

have to because they won’t
can’t don’t

it’s a mongrel thing we are
that’s why you’re wonderful, me too

we’re in the lap of forever yet
and yes we fuck it up

this wind for instance
who did that?

whole country needs smoking
may well get its wish

dream plastic back to oil
and bury

we crawl into the sea as was
who hasn’t been a fish?

we are the ones who are here to persist
you set the feast

all wait on your words
it’s a light survival

intervention
day the poem makes

I know that they’ve been
at your blood again

poke till puke
stick needles in

and still you shine
it’s so much love

Kerri beams your way
we like to reflect on this

allow yourself just this much bliss
you should bask in it today
