KA Rees #16 - Distant stars

Distant stars

So long it
is the longest
time longest span
the length of time is long
so long so long ago it was such
a long time between now and then.
I remember it was a Tuesday the sun was shining.
I remember a Friday, the wind rattled the glass inside its frame.
I remember it was a Sunday and the day crept up slowly, as if the light
somehow refused to show.
I remember it was a day, a clear bright day
with no shadows hanging in the sky.
I remember it was night.
Black as pitch with
white stars
shining
a pale
distant
light.
I remember it as the slow burn of midsummer reflected back from the water’s edge
all gone
so long, so long.
