Jeffree Skewes #121 Music remains

What if all that other stuff
simply fell away didn't matter
flushed spilled and evaporated
forgotten as it would have been

music remains

all these ideas of piano standards
revive the still air growing hairs
lifting spirits every time it sways
impressionist harmony so we hear

music remains

within every wave shoreline seashells
tumble to align their embouchure
record and share their briney sounds
each their own indelible composition

music remains

an endless echo a melody
black keys diced with white
tinkle their growing resonance
before during and why not after

music remains

no holding back the rhythms
attuning heart mind feet
when nothin else quite cuts through
rest assured music remains
