Cordate
The sun the sun
rises through the leaves,
perennial arms,
grass grows in tufts
seedhead open to the
waist of air stirring
this string quartet
of grasses. Clay
beds keep roots rich
but not the snap
of frost across
cooled earth. The sun
renders morning
away.
