Along the coast a big swell is sounding
with a fission split of atoms as they smash
and the caught air detonating tympanic as a skin
a cleaving crash while waves are sundering
the surface is a steel smack
the hammer hurl a blow
though hit and hitter are made of the very same stuff
equally matched and intermingled
still they fight it out waves vs water
with the thlock and thwack of a cartoon man
punching himself perpetually in the face
until it is no longer funny
until the brutalizing battering
which you came here specially to see
makes you turn away little sickened
