Kit Kelen #1195 - navigating the dark

1195
navigating the dark

submergence
I call it

black armband view
a fundamental shift in the fabric

do you know this world?
how it will be?
how it can have come about?

has sunshine too
and rises where we’re sunk

subtle shifts you might not notice
in light, in the passage of time

no amount of attention would tell

the radio suggests
I too am progressing to nothing

give to you the secret
today in socks
and notice
water still runs downhill

it wakes you
like the moment of the face presented
something lit
now from the past

I know we will accept all this
uncannily alike

sunshine and trees still stood
not even a breath in the leaves today

always easy to understate
to over read

bees loud in the garden of the sun

you feel in the dark
not wishing to wake
anyone otherwise

everyday objects are something else now
other shapes to the touch they are

do you recognize
world of the home still standing
as if not a soul were required?

like lost at the Easter show
and a voice comes over the air
says this is how it is from now
your mother – all mother – is gone

but the callous rest won’t even know
get on with the maze to tread
it’s as if they never heard

always easy to understate
to over read

turn it all into words
and it’s gone
