Before this night lay
great words and magicked light
pushed through glass
Before this light lay dark
nightshade folds
on story in flesh over skin
Before this moon lay
translucent thoughts shed
quick and soft as
memory rolling water
Before this star-shawl lay
risen dreams with breath
for risk sharp strident
Before this dawn lay
an altar of finishings all in rows
behind day pages
exhale sink swim
before these words

I like star-shawl
ReplyDeleteA lovely poem, Gillian, like a spell.
