cruising the volunteer service clubs
his victims are blindsided
while singing the praises of altruism
he molests the civic-minded
under the guise of community service
like a charity Hannibal Lecter
he targets aspiring public speakers
in the not-for-profit sector
prowling events in the Lions Club
he stalks the fundraisers and fetes
after grooming the aspiring applicant
he then pounces on his prey
with offers of personal development
he’ll give it a red hot go
if it doesn’t unearth that for which he was digging
he’ll pick up the Rotary ho
even the Oddfellows kicked him out
when caught in the lodge, mid-roger
as did the Freemasons, for being too free
with an Apprentice’s todger
despite numerous allegations he’s
never uttered a word of admission
the only way he’ll be brought to justice is
through a service clubs royal commission
Lovely work Clark, espeially the Oddfellows stanza. (I've also used Rotary Ho, in a short story about a horror gig I did at a Rotary conference some years ago. Great minds, ours!)
