Rob Schackne #851 - My Australia

My Australia

The ants jump
from the ground
on to your leg
talking birds
swoop down
from trees
ask their questions
save me they say
flies work hard
getting to know you
a lizard long as your arm
is running up close
what's the fucking point
hoons are everywhere
you're a bastard
when you're young
not much chance
you'll be pitied
laughed at
& cleaned up
when you're old
my Australia

    1. Ha. Dear Gillian, it's not easy returning to a country whose vices you conveniently forgot, so that you could make way for others in another country. It's just a grizzle. :)

  2. Ah truth, always necessary for understanding. I find the strangest thing about age is increasing invisibility. Yep, they run right over you.
