Kristen de Kline # 245 Christmas blues

hark those bloody angels sing
thirty bulbs flash out of synch

where the hell is the wolf
maybe it's a coyote I can't tell

the difference tinsel paper chains
he painted when he was five why do

they have to grow someone wavers
on the far edge of the deck 30 storeys high

you say you can see city lights and the
Bolte Bridge a wonky shepherd balances

on a spindly fir branch two more globes
have burnt and crashed I can taste ash

and love in my mouth we drive all night
take out coffee from the 7/11 I can't find

your pulse you eat two steak burgers jam
the wrappers in the glove box where is that

missing comma the night watchman says
you've lost your way find the Ring Road

by the time we stop driving
carols vanish into another season

Suzanne comes out of nowhere
offers us tea and oranges

the radio in the Pulsar crackles

I think I can see the wolf
