Chrysogonus #58 - shared college room

shared college room

Friday sunset
the idea of rest
tiny opening

between curtains
locked windows
air-con locked on

all these
make a small room
smaller

on the bed, my body
or what seems like it
face down, foetal

next to it, a laughter
my roommate made
eerie gothic in my ears

where a broken white
noise machine plays
in loops

two octaves too high
broken tempo
spastic drumbeats

blood pumps
an invisible balloon
overinflates the torso

pushing
all emotions
out of the heart

expansion as compensation
space shrunk out
with a stranger

this is the meaning
of sharing
a room
