Rob Schackne #1032 - A Track

A  Track

She grew up on a station off the Birdsville Track.
She lived there for twenty years.
It never rained.
A new stockman was put on.
A week after the stranger came it rained for a week.
She remembered how noisy it was.
She left for Uni and lasted a year.
After that there were thousands of miles.
Years passed in the eight directions.
They talked about animals and the weather forecast.
There was fire on the mountain.
It was far away.
It was local.
Everything was so quiet.
They barely recognised each other.
