Jeffree Michael #100 Downhill

Remember walking friends
down old roads
homes nearby and time to play

anything could be found or made
the next new thing a game or two
the innocence discovery

make believe or pretend
just because you can
each day stayed so young

chairs morphed into go-karts
balanced in mid-air on two wheels
careering on just one felt like the ton

every adventure rocked and rolled
speed and grind the sport to master
on the edge yelps and laughter

how can play be so real
finished off each other's lines
from ear to ear grin and verve

then one day it must be said
hill and dale disappeared
got a job a life etcetera

signed-up for that other race
the one we'd all participate
went downhill at the desk

spent light-years trading slippery poles
new suits parked dreams
them shiny shoes just don't quite fit

the voice within not so silent
like a river starts first a trickle
nothing changes what you love

downhill racing's coming back you know
trust and hold you won't fall
free everything here is yours to risk
