Kit Kelen #1321 - grass greener

1321
grass greener
or
beware of what you wish for

woke from darkest depths
chased sun
soon in summer
sought fountain, shade

in somebody’s body
I dreamt of another

city stuck high in a windowless tower
I hoped for the great outdoors

in a thicket
I craved the vast

war was declared
we fought for peace

I needed more time
and how the hours dragged

jumped out of the skin
I was comfortable in
I needed a little surprise

would it be pepsi?
would it be coke?

I wanted a choice
was overwhelmed
please will you decide

falling
I hoped some angel would catch
mock piety gave me away

tried to be serious
fell about laughing

in a steam room
I thought of the desert
in the desert I prayed for a flood
thought of the sea

washed off from a raft
saw high up the branches

I needed a tune
and the noise drove me mad

wanted winter
soon I was bitten with frost
fire took down the house

that set me to wander
all over the place
hankered to be home again

from my armchair
ordered a ticket

itching to
and ointment over

I wanted to get my hands dirty
I had to wash them clean

wanted to stop the world to get off
it was all in my mind

the cow pose
the cat
how to decide?

dreamt of waking
and I longed for sleep

I wished upon a star
it went off in my face

I chased a bug around a tree
they said to say it fast

I was a silence in the trap of light
so much there was to say

beast I was
would reason

and far and far
hearts near to me

yearned to be a little bird
was how I flew away
