Robert Verdon, #28, Not a Charles Sheeler Landscape

if you have a fire
in your crowded theatre
put me on stage and I’ll sing,
emptying it in record time;
for an added fee I will disrobe
and cure hiccups as they file out —
all the while, I am thinking of
a garden wall
in a flat land, not a tree for
heartbeats, red ribbon on
the horizon, names
— and grammar! —
jumping out at me.
