kept at the back of the shop.

Yvette shows us yesterday's photo
of a millipede that turns out to be a centipede
but it could paralyse you anyway.
The ride-on mower stalls at the barbed wire
in the grass,
and Kennie, our plumber for the day,
leaves for the four-hour drive home
with a rifle
hoping for bush turkey or kangaroo
along the way.
There is a horned cow in town today
walking from yard to yard
perhaps in search of that greener grass
we keep seeing
out beyond the town
near the horizon that's all around us.
