Anna Couani #49

I remember Grandma
not that thin
but very dextrous
making tiny fruit
out of marzipan
painting them
with food colouring
for some CWA
annual event

and her lovely room
where the sewing machine
sat on a table
in front of a
north facing window
where sunshine shone
through a lace curtain
on her work

constantly making
crochet
embroidery
millinery
sewing
cooking
baking
crying
laughing
goofing off

looking for a way
to sideline
her heart condition
