the air is heavy,
too heavy to bear,
birds fall down dead in it.

ReplyDeleteRobbie, thank you for that. Terrific suggestion. I'd revised those lines so often in the last two days, I was ready to chuck them out....but I still can't quite let go.....(it's the academic in me, I guess). I'm going to try :)
