Mikaela Castledine #50 Foraging

He goes out each morning
walking the hills for an hour
for health of heart and head
and to halt
middle aged spread

This week twice
he came back with forage
coincidentally small pliers
needle nosed and yellow gripped
three small
wind blown mangoes
where the tree breaches
the containment of a garden
and a shifting spanner
from the middle of this morning's road

Foraging
like writing daily poems
requires a keen eye
an acquisitory mind
and a certain fleetness of foot
