Mikaela Castledine #52 Not Superstitious

I've misplaced
my favourite crochet hook
it's only a cheap 5mm Aero
none of your fancy ergonomics
just aluminium
the grey worn to a tactile silver
in the places where my fingers touch

I've made at least forty sculptures with it
thirty crows two eagles a pangolin
three elephants and four rhinos
one life sized
but it's ok
I'm not superstitious I can start this piece
with another hook

look it's fine
this one is a little smaller but that's not a problem
in fact it could be better to have a slightly finer loop
I'll just get on with it shall I
or perhaps
I'll just go upstairs one more time
it might have fallen
and rolled under the table

  4. Yes thank you I did find it and am much happier! Also yes Pangolins day! I am very fond of Pangolins and have done a series of sculptures about them. One day I hope to go to Singapore Zoo and meet some in person. xM

  5. Suniti Namjoshi has a wonderful fable about pangolins. I think it's called lost species and she compares them to poets. Because both poets and pangolins don't do anything useful (or so they say).
