Robert Verdon, #47, More Panache, More Chutzpah

breathe
live forever
fly past Pluto
on moulting wings
the habit of death
overcome
build a city inside a hair
shrink the world to fit
even eternity is a lamp
that turns on and off
an ormolu clock
a retro time machine
it is not the gold
but the gleam
not the breath
but the dream
not the life
but the reliving
*
this year, I am
yearning for success,
a revolutionary

waiting for promotion
play another game of chess,
fuse molecules of water,

make a bridge across the ocean
all nouns are really verbs,
whoever that disturbs

play another game of chess,
fuse molecules of water,
make a bridge across the ocean

poetry is a petal
landing in a canyon
floating on the river
that dug its new companion

play another game of chess,
fuse molecules of hydrogen,
make a bridge across the cosmos
