Roadmakers killed a beautiful tree to make way for the highway to bypass our town.
(And for non-Australian readers, the 'rainbow' in the third last line is not some fey poeticism, but part of the name of a Rainbow Lorikeet, a rambunctious, brightly coloured, gregariously cheerful bird common where I live.)
