Lucy Alexander #57 Swing

For the world to swing
you need to keep still
keep all those moments
lined up in one place and
let the tree rise up behind you
let the leaves go on growing
let your feet fall just there
so that sunlight makes shadows of them
and your hair falls down and
tickles your cheek.

There is only so much time
so much time.

  1. Beautiful. I love swinging and you capture it so wonderfully.

  2. intriguing inversion of perspective

  3. A beautiful "in the moment" poem. I am not sure that the last two lines sit well there> they seem to get in the way of the rest of the poem.
