Magdalena Ball #43: The Lakes of Titan

The Lakes of Titan

you could travel through any time
any space, the dog at your heels

swimming hard as you can
oceans divided by invisible lines

suppressed rage powering motion
lightning charging the water

these demarcations cut us in two
the moment you’ve got stride

a shadow appears, just briefly
like a ghost at the mirror, it’s you

reflected sunlight from the surface
that liquid, your chosen lake, your sea

abundantly unstable, sinking ice
an oasis

look at anything closely enough and
it abstracts, the whole dissolving into parts

parts becoming whole
