Not Now, Phoebe
At the very top of it there's an onsen
with no fractures it looks upon the sea
on the other side are marvelous mountains
there are dark women not dressed in white
long hair appealing to me safe and sound
shakuhachi and squash courts for the lame
a bar with strange cups of noble coffee
there's wheetbix & cocaine & success
and exotic drinks that even I won't try
no other guests are even circling nearby
it's of course the temple of the crystal palace
which I have dreamt of in so many places
doctor said nowhere else could be prescribed
though I should get out of the water more
and give the girls a rest from my perfections
finally knowing that this can't go on forever
but the fall from there should be really slow.
Wonderful poem. Also love the pic.
ReplyDeleteHa. It's Michelangelo's thing stuck on the ceiling of the Sistine. The fall would be pretty abrupt. :)
DeleteThank you for listening, dear Susan.
