Lusk's 'Landscape Overlooking Kaitawa, Waikaremoana (1948)
find
a town at the brush end
in
the between of lakes
where
a sky folds hills
high
as they come
track
bends to the wheel that brought us
like
shade and green light
we're
here
everything
lifted to have
trees
eased away to pasture
scratch
of ridge tipping
and
cloud till
if
the train ever came
it
would wait for us here
sit
like a portrait
for
this view
