1053
always only just in time
have you ever really looked at a clock
seen the face, the heart behind?
in the night it has rained
you see that now
we were always here
and have been
have you ever seen under a clock
known the dark intent
the weeping?
the time when...
and the time until
they all live in this face
we are waiting for and on
the far far better
of a day to come
the way it was back when...
have you ever heard the voice of the clock
felt that cold breath?
plash
and you follow the stream
by eye
one hand and so another follows
the alien craft now this moment lands
a clock is always hiding something
could be mere moments
hours
months
do you see into it?
follow round
have you ever
swum in the clock
and even dipped a winter toe?
it is a seashore rhythm
seasons come with it
kept time with the music there
have you ever shone your sun in one?
then dial up any weather
and as a wheel rolls on
so steady stern
run down still
the papa clock
the mama milk
as time dispensed
grandparents too
have you ever told a clock
just what you thought of it?
which way to go?
to put things behind
do you see the mirror eyes?
do you know the clock's frail sex?
and go another round
have you seen to the truth of time?
seen through to?
you catch a cold and you survive
and all this world was turning while
and one day we dispense with it
if you can spare the time
